At some point in my journey of doing plant Dietas I began to find that every plant I commune with produces visions and "downloads" of wisdom and understanding and takes me on a shamanic "journey" regardless of its chemistry or whether it contains psychoactive components or not (for example, Sage, Nettle, Rose, etc)
Over the last few years I've also gotten steady feedback from my clients when sitting with Rose and/or Cacao in the ceremonies I hold, or in some cases simply receiving channeled singing through Rose transmissions while drinking no medicine on their end, of entering profound visionary spaces and experiencing what felt like an Ayahuasca ceremony.
I'm beginning to think accessing the visionary aspects of the plant kingdom is more of a learned way of communication (likely developed and re-remembered over multiple incarnations) and one that can be "empathed" or attuned to temporarily from the one holding the space depending on their depth of connection with the plant. Once this skill and receptivity is developed and refined, it seems it can be applied to all plant spirits!
I've found each and every plant to have their own personality, communication style, specific teachings, and visionary quality. Perhaps the psychoactive components in plants such as Ayahuasca simply make this access easier by facilitating a chemical state more conducive to it, and eventually teaching how to tap into that same state without the influence of chemistry. They tend to communicate through sudden insight and understanding about your life and healing process that can't possibly come from your previous knowledge and what is held in your mind, strong visceral and symbolic dreams, and waking imagery. Sometimes the imagery isn't visual in the sense of seeing things tangibly, but more a directly immersive experience.
In the context of holding space, Rose tends to give me step by step guidance (in the moment or the night before) in what to do on my end in a Dieta space to help someone through the process that arises and quite literally explains to me what is behind the qualities of energy and impressions I feel.
I'm starting to realize what I experience in these spaces isn't terribly common, the more I have talked to people involved in plant shamanism about it, the more I see that it is rather rare and some have encouraged me to try to put it in words so this is my attempt! It has been a small step in the very long journey I've been going through these last few years in fully accepting the role I play as a channel and facilitator.
It would seem this ability is a defining factor of what separates those that hold these spaces with profound energetic depth and precision, and those who more provide a basic signature that those journeying can use to navigate their process. Most of my personal process as a facilitator has been moving through over-humility and self doubt and letting it be ok to acknowledge this gift of connection I have been given in gratitude and passion to be in service.
